Players not registered for a Fall 2025 AYSO program will need One Day Tryout for insurance purposes if not registered.

If you did not play AYSO in Fall 2025, you must ALSO register as a player at AYSO1455.org in our FREE tryout program.  Log in or create an account.  Then choose "2026 EXTRA TRYOUT (non-AYSO registered players)" and follow the prompts.  All players trying out must be registered and insured.

Tryouts are held in DECEMBER for positions on teams the following calendar year.  We will be having tryouts for U9-U14 (NEW Calendar year matrix is below)

Tryout Schedule for 2026 EXTRA Year:

**NEW!!! If you cannot attend the night of your birth year, please let us know and then come to the 2nd look.  Do NOT attend another tryout.
**2nd Look is by Invitation Only

Note for anyone filling out the form after tryout dates: not all players filling out the form will be invited for tryouts.  Invitations will be dependent on specific team needs/openings and will be limited in number.  If your player did not play in the Fall of 2025 or are not already registered and paid for Spring 2026, they must also register as a "2026 EXTRA TRYOUT-for non-registered players only".

What to Wear and Bring:

• Comfortable Shorts and White Shirt with NO MARKINGS ASSOCIATED WITH AN AYSO/EXTRA TEAM OR CLUB
  
• Shin Guards
• Cleats
• Appropriate Size Ball
• Water

EXTRA Evaluation Areas:

Technical

• EVALUATION CRITERIA: players’ dribbling, passing and ball control abilities including: turning, balance and touch while dribbling; passing with accuracy, pace, timing; and controlling techniques using various surfaces while maintaining eye contact with the ball and ultimately preparing the ball for the next move.

Tactical 

• EVALUATION CRITERIA: players’ overall skills in developing tactical play including: field awareness; communication; leadership; awareness of organization and shape of play; ability to play on and off the ball; and ability to support, create options and make appropriate runs that support the attack or defense.

Functional Attacking

• EVALUATION  CRITERIA:  players’ ability to maintain possession under pressure, create individual and team space, turn on a defender, recognize and take the direct route to goal; anticipation, preparation, decisiveness and timing when shooting.

Functional Defending

• EVALUATION  CRITERIA:  players’ defending control and balance, ability to establish appropriate marking distance, goal-side/ball-side position, ability to prevent an attacker from turning and tackling skills.
