GOAL SAFETY
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reported 26 deaths and hundreds of injuries resulting from soccer goal accidents. Securely anchoring portable goals is the most important step we can take to prevent soccer goal injuries. While most injuries come from children climbing on top of improperly secured goals, injuries have occurred when goals have tipped over or when goals are being set-up/taken down.
The following guidelines should be followed to ensure the safety of all our players:
ALL GOALS should be anchored and inspected prior to each use.
Goals may be anchored/secured with stakes or sandbags.
Referees should check each goal as part of their safety inspection of the field prior to each match.
If used for practice, the coach should ensure the goal is properly anchored.
Ensure Bownet goals are fully extended and in the locked position prior to use.
No climbing or hanging on goals.
