In compliance with AYSO National Rules and Regulations, the Regional Board of Directors of AYSO Region 1455 announces the opening of application period for the position of Regional Commissioner. The position of Regional Commissioner is the person charged with the daily operation of the local AYSO region. The Regional Commissioner position requires a time commitment averaging 10+ hours per week. During the months of the primary and secondary program hours can increase depending on program requirements, meetings and special events.
Qualifications to be eligible to nominate yourself, or be nominated for this position, are that you are (preferably) a current or past Regional Board member or a registered volunteer, in good standing with the organization.
The process is to have open nominations (via email) to the Nomination Committee (NC) via the Nomination Committee Chair (NCC), Janice Lugo. The NC will consist of three Board Members, Janice Lugo, Darren Higuchi, and Lou Biacchi. The NC will then vet each of the candidates for eligibility and as a volunteer in AYSO in good standing. At the conclusion of the open nomination time period, the NC will send the candidates applications to the Voting Members of Regional Board (Executive Voting Committee – 11 members) for review. The Area Director will then conduct an election to vote on who will be the Regional Commissioner. Once that is complete, the Area Director will forward to the Section Director and then to the AYSO National Board of Directors for approval.
The current term for AYSO Region 1445 incumbent Regional Commissioner will expire on March 1, 2023. The nomination period is open now and will close September 1, 2022. It is anticipated that the vote will occur in October of 2022 and the Voting Members of Regional Board (Executive Voting Committee – 11 members) in place at the time of the open nominations will be eligible to vote. Since the current RC term ends in February 2023, the successful candidate will become the RC Elect until such time (and continue any current board positions until the 2023 board position election).
To submit your nomination, please e-mail the Nomination Committee Chair (NCC), Janice Lugo at [email protected] (please put RC NOMINATION in the subject line regarding anything related to this election). The person nominated will be asked to provide a letter of intent and a resume. Your letter of intent should include the answer to this question: What do you think you can offer in the role of Regional Commissioner for AYSO 1455? Your resume should include any personal, professional, and AYSO experience that the nominee would like to include. You may also email should you have any additional questions regarding this position or process.
